Something to Prove (138 bpm)

from Tonight (deluxe edition) by Dredillah

/

about

The lyrics for this song were originally written in one of my many recording sessions with Shawn Murphy, whose voice is sampled in the “Chibi” track on the “lunar powered” EP. The lyrics for “something to Prove” were written from the viewpoint of view of a woman who is in the process of watching her relationship dissolve. She’s asking, explaining, and describing what went wrong in the relationship as it reaches its painful conclusion.

lyrics

Now guess I know that you don’t really mean it dare you to say then you say, it’s obscene it’s a shame you deny me There’s a light in your eyes when you Get recognition When I mention a name But you claim you never met her I've seen you together Don’t know why you do it It’s like you've got something to prove It seems like the one you love Just isn't me So good bye (boy) You ask Will you remember Oh if only I could forget That I loved you Day by day Yer face will fade away pain will never They’ll remember Don’t know why you do it It’s like you've got something to prove It seems like the one you love Just isn't me So good bye (boy)
