Burning Memory (170 bpm)

from Tonight (deluxe edition) by Dredillah

/

about

In one of my previous bands “A New January” we would sometimes improvise and play random phrases over a breakbeat loop. I’d always wanted to build on the idea of a live drum and bass driven band, this is my attempt at that vibe. Both Prymal and Lord Reotch contributed their voices to the track. The lyrics are essentially about two topics, the first being different stages most people experience in life. The 2nd topic would be "progress", and that by moving on to new things you often have to set aside some old things. Similar to how you would need to demolish, or burn an old structure in order to build a new one.

lyrics

I try to break it down
In seven simple words
But you don’t wanna try
Lies only make it worse
Devour what you can
it took hours,
we make amends
words stings like imitation
and sounds like its pretend
It was my life
To fake
Or make
When I’m inspired
this future isn’t sure
the facts are thrown awry
its on if you believe
reaction is the theme

We burn memories
We burn memories
I can feel you loose control
Of what you think you know

Every now and then
Burning memory
Every now and then
Burning memory

Are those the wrong words?
It sounds
Like it burns
I’ll ride against the tide
It shakes when its right
It hurts when you leave
I’m yours just ta breathe
You know
when I read
post every entry
At night I throw words
Until we’re all slurred
It might
Drift away
When I see your wake
When I bounce around
In streets we’re so down

We burn memories
We burn memories
I can feel you loose control
Of what you think you know

Every now and then
Burning memory
Every now and then
Burning memory
